“The Trainer”
For the final episode of the yr, I bought the possibility to drive as much as Northridge, California, and have a dialog with Dave Grohl. We talked in regards to the Foo Fighters tune “The Teacher,” which is an epic, 10-minute lengthy tune. Dave advised me it’s an important piece of music he’s ever written, as a result of it’s devoted to his mom, Virginia, who handed away in 2022.
Dave Grohl began Foo Fighters in 1994, after Nirvana ended. This year, Foo Fighters set a record for having the most Top 10 hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts. They’ve won 15 Grammy awards, including winning the Grammy for Best Rock album five times — more than anyone else.
“The Teacher” is from their eleventh album, But Here We Are, which got here out in June 2023. I sat with Dave within the Foo Fighters apply area, and he advised me the entire story of the tune. Developing, you’ll hear the 2 voice memos he initially recorded on acoustic guitar, plus the 2 demos he made on his option to figuring the tune out.
