The White Stripes are suing former President Donald J. Trump over the unauthorized use of their 2003 Elephant tune “Seven Nation Military” in a marketing campaign video posted final month by Margo Martin, Trump’s deputy director of communications. Each Meg and Jack White are listed as co-plaintiffs within the lawsuit, which lists six counts of copyright infringement.
The lawsuit states that Trump and his marketing campaign “selected to disregard and never reply to Plaintiffs’ pre-litigation efforts to resolve the issues at subject on this motion,” and have as a substitute “indiscriminately trampled on Plaintiffs’ authorized rights.” It additionally states that the White Stripes “vehemently oppose the insurance policies adopted and actions taken by Defendant Trump when he was President and people he has proposed for the second time period he seeks.”
